How to Rotate a PDF

  1. 1

Choose a PDF to preview its pages.

  2. 2

Rotate all pages, or select pages and rotate only those.

  3. 3

Click Save rotation and download the PDF.

Example

A scanned form has two landscape pages that open sideways. Select them, rotate right once and save.

Rotate One Page or a Whole Scanned Document

Rotate PDF changes page orientation in 90-degree steps. For a document where every page is sideways, leave the selection empty and use the rotate-all controls. To change only some pages, select their thumbnails first; the same controls then apply to the selected pages. Individual page controls are useful when one scan has a different orientation from the rest.

A quarter turn changes portrait to landscape or landscape to portrait. Two quarter turns fix an upside-down page. Check the preview before saving, especially when a document includes both tables and ordinary text. The operation rotates the complete page and does not detect which direction text should face or automatically straighten a slightly tilted scan.

Check Rotation in the Downloaded PDF

Open the result in a reader after downloading it. The page count and order should be the same as the original; only the orientations you changed should differ. Check any mixed portrait and landscape pages at their normal reading size. The Download PDF button remains available for saving the completed result again without repeating the rotation.

Rotation is stored in the output PDF, which is useful when sending a scan that should open the right way for someone else. Some readers also provide a temporary rotate-view command that changes only your local view. Use that reader command if you merely want to read the page differently and do not need to create a new document.

Orientation Does Not Change the Page Contents

Rotating a page does not edit text, crop margins, repair a blurry scan or make scanned words searchable. It also does not automatically standardize page sizes. If your next task is arranging pages, open the result in Organize PDF. If you need searchable text from an image scan, this quick tool does not provide OCR.

The saved output is rebuilt from the source pages, so check document-level forms, bookmarks, attachments and signatures when they matter. A digitally signed PDF may no longer verify after editing. Keep the original and confirm the recipient’s requirements before replacing an important document with a rotated copy. Password-protected files need an authorized usable copy before this tool can process them.

What It Does and Current Limits

  • Rotation is saved in the file, so the pages open correctly in any PDF reader.
  • Pages rotate in 90° steps.
