PdfCraft Tutorial

This guide shows how to use PdfCraft Online: the full workspace for reading and annotating PDFs, and the quick tools for common page tasks.

1. Open the PdfCraft Workspace

Click Open PdfCraft. The first visit downloads the app (about 40 MB, much less when compressed); later visits load from your browser cache.

PdfCraft uses WebGPU when available and falls back to WebGL2. A current desktop version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari works best.

2. Open a PDF

Use the open command in the workspace to pick a PDF from your computer. Files are read locally by your browser.

3. Read, Search and Annotate

  • Navigate with thumbnails, bookmarks and the page outline.
  • Search the text and copy selections.
  • Add comments and highlights, and fill in form fields.
  • Save your changes as a new PDF to your computer.

4. Use the Quick Page Tools

  • Merge PDF: combine several files into one.
  • Split PDF and Extract PDF Pages: create new files from parts of a document.
  • Organize, Rotate and Delete PDF Pages: fix the order and orientation of pages.

5. Current Limits

  • PdfCraft is young software; complex files can still behave differently than in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Office conversions, OCR and password protection are not offered on this site yet.
  • Phones can use the quick tools; the full workspace works best on a desktop.

Plan a Small, Verifiable First Task

Start with a document whose page count and contents you know. A short test file is easier to review than a long confidential packet. Decide whether you want to read and annotate in the workspace or create a new file with a page tool. You can use both in sequence, but they have separate working states, so save a result before moving to another page.

For page selection, count positions from the first page of the PDF. Covers and introductions still occupy positions even if they have no printed number. Check the intended output before clicking the processing button: one combined document, several split parts, selected pages or a copy with unwanted pages removed. That simple decision prevents most selection mistakes.

Example: Prepare a Report and Its Attachments

Suppose you have a five-page report and a two-page appendix. Merge them in that order to create a seven-page packet, then open the result to check the join. If the appendix belongs before the report, move the appendix file up in the merge list before processing. If only one appendix page is needed, extract that page first and merge the smaller attachment.

To repair an individual page after merging, use Organize PDF. Drag its page handle to a new position, or use the arrows to move one position at a time. Rotation controls change orientation. To send the report and appendix separately again, use Split PDF with ranges 1-5, 6-7. Review the downloaded outputs as new files and keep the sources until you know that the final packet is complete.

Find a Download and Check the Result

Your browser decides the download location. Some browsers save automatically to Downloads; others ask where to save. If an automatic download was missed, use the result’s Download PDF button while the tab is still open. Split results have individual buttons and, for multiple parts, Download all as ZIP. Extract the ZIP on your device to access the PDFs. Do not close the page before saving the parts you need.

Open the saved file in a reader and check its page count, first page, last page and any places where you made a change. Test forms or other important interactive features separately. Keep the original signed document if signature validity matters, because rebuilding or annotating a PDF can change it. A successful download confirms that a file was generated; your review confirms that it is the file you intended.

If the File or Workspace Does Not Open

A workspace that is still loading may be downloading its first set of application assets. Use a current desktop browser and allow the initial load to finish. If it stays blank or reports a graphics error, open the workspace help menu and try WebGL compatibility mode or CPU software rendering. Save any open PDF before switching because the workspace reloads. The quick page tools work independently of the full workspace.

A page tool can reject a damaged or password-protected PDF. Confirm that you have an authorized usable copy and that it opens in your usual reader. For a large scanned document, close unused tabs and try a smaller file to distinguish device memory pressure from a general problem. The quick tools do not remove passwords, perform OCR or recover damaged PDF data.
