How to Merge PDF Files
- 1
Choose two or more PDF files, or drop them on the box.
- 2
Drag the handles or use the arrows to arrange the files in your preferred order.
- 3
Click Merge PDF and download the combined file.
Example
You have a cover letter, a résumé and two certificates as separate PDFs. Add all four, move the cover letter to the top and merge them into one file to attach to an application.
Choose the Right Order Before Merging
Merge PDF is useful when a report, its appendix and a set of receipts need to become one document. Select at least two PDF files. Each cover preview helps identify its document. The numbered list shows the output order: all pages of the first file, then all pages of the second. Drag the handle or use the up and down arrows to move a whole file before processing.
Check the page count beside each filename, especially when two files have similar names. Remove an accidental duplicate or add a missing appendix before merging. This tool combines existing pages; it does not create a table of contents, renumber printed page labels or make all page sizes match. A portrait report and a landscape spreadsheet can remain different sizes in the same output.
Check the Combined PDF
After processing, the browser starts a download and the Download PDF button remains available. Open the saved file in a PDF reader and check the first page, each join between files and the last page. The output page count should equal the sum of the input page counts. Keep your original files until you have confirmed that the combined document opens correctly.
If one page needs moving inside the combined document, open the result in Organize PDF. If only a few pages from an attachment belong in the final packet, extract those pages first and then merge that smaller PDF. These two workflows avoid inserting an entire attachment and help you review exactly what you are sharing.
When a Merge Needs Another Approach
A password-protected or damaged file may fail to load. Use an authorized copy that opens normally in your usual reader; this tool does not remove passwords. Large image-heavy scans also require browser memory. Close unused tabs or work with smaller groups if processing stops, then review the intermediate results before combining them.
Page copying is not a promise to preserve every document-level feature. Check interactive forms, bookmarks, attachments and accessibility information separately when they matter. A digital signature can cease to be valid after a document is rebuilt. For signed agreements, retain the signed originals and confirm the requirements of the recipient before making a combined copy.
What It Does and Current Limits
- Keeps every page, in full quality, in the order you choose.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
- Each PDF can be up to 50 MB. Merge up to 50 files and 100 MB in total; smaller batches work better on phones.
- Bookmarks and form fields from the source files may not be carried over.
Merge PDF FAQ
Are my files uploaded?
No. The files are read and merged by your browser on your own device and never sent to our servers.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
You can merge up to 50 PDFs per batch, with a maximum of 50 MB per file and 100 MB combined. Large scans still depend on your device's memory, so use smaller batches on phones.
Can I merge only some pages?
Merge the files first, then use Extract PDF Pages or Delete PDF Pages to keep only the pages you need.
