Prefer not to install?
Run PdfCraft in your browser without installing the desktop app. The workspace downloads its web assets on the first visit; no account is required.
Make Sure You Have the Real PdfCraft
Several unrelated projects use the PdfCraft name. The editor on this site is ArtCraft's PdfCraft, written in Rust and published at github.com/storytold/pdfcraft.
Download only from the official GitHub release, and compare the file with SHA256SUMS.txt if you want to be sure it is intact.
Desktop App or Online?
The desktop app works offline and suits large documents and daily use. It also includes the pdfcraft-cli command-line tool for automation.
PdfCraft Online needs nothing installed, works on locked-down or shared computers and offers quick page tools for merging, splitting and more.
Browser Workspace or Desktop App?
Choose the browser workspace when you want to start reading or annotating without installing a desktop application. It loads the hosted web build and works with files on your device. Choose an official desktop package when your workflow calls for a desktop app or your browser does not run the workspace reliably. The download links above lead to the ArtCraft release source rather than a repackaged installer.
The browser option still downloads application assets, especially on the first visit; “no installation” does not mean no network transfer. Later visits can reuse cached assets. The quick tools offer page operations, image conversion and text extraction without loading the full workspace. Their processing engines are identified on each tool page.
Match the Package to Your Computer
Check both the operating system and the processor architecture shown beside a release file. A package intended for another platform may download successfully but fail to open. On macOS, check whether your computer uses Apple silicon or Intel before choosing a matching release. On Linux, follow the format and requirements listed by the official release rather than assuming every distribution uses the same package.
Read the release notes before replacing an existing version. Keep a copy of an important PDF and test a small document after installation. This guide identifies download sources; it does not guarantee that every package is signed, notarized or compatible with every system version. If your operating system displays a security warning, verify the official source and follow your normal security policy.
Verify the Source and the Downloaded File
Use the official ArtCraft release page linked by this guide to confirm the version and filename. Where the release provides checksums, compare the checksum of your downloaded file with the matching entry. A matching checksum helps detect an incomplete or changed download; it does not replace checking that you obtained both the file and checksum from the intended release source.
If a package fails to open, check the file size, platform and architecture first. Download it again from the official source if the transfer was interrupted. Avoid instructions that ask you to disable system protections or install an unrelated browser extension merely to open a PDF. You can test the browser workspace while investigating a desktop installation issue.
Understand Which Version This Site Uses
The hosted workspace is pinned to the verified release shown in this guide. Its version can differ from a future upstream release or from a similarly named third-party website. We check the upstream package before updating our hosted assets. The desktop download table and the hosted workspace should therefore be evaluated by their stated version, not by a general claim that they are always the newest.
After changing versions, open a small PDF, perform the tasks you rely on and save a test copy before returning to important documents. Keep original files until you have reviewed the output. Features such as OCR, Office conversion and certificate signing should be checked explicitly; the existence of a download does not establish that every advertised PDF feature is supported.
